Breakfast, a Comfy Shoebox Room, and Mystery Stairs
It was a pleasant surprise to learn that the Lil Yangon Hostel provided breakfast in the morning for its guests. I started my first day in Yangon enjoying that breakfast, and then I settled in for a very long wait as my single room was prepared. I wasn’t able to move out of the temporary double room they gave me until the current resident of the single room checked out.
I thought about packing up completely and then leaving my bags at the front desk so I could go out exploring Yangon, but I thought it was best to keep possession of my double room until I was sure the single room was available. I could easily imagine leaving my current room only to find out that the other room was suddenly unavailable, and I would end up with no room at all.
My single room did eventually open up, and I made the move. Then I went on a tour of the hostel, which was going to be my home for at least a week as I enjoyed the Thingyan water festival.
