Photo Post – Fort San Pedro in Cebu
Many cats live inside Fort San Pedro. They’re a handsome bunch and quite friendly. I made a lot of friends as I wandered around with my camera.
The most popular activity at Fort San Pedro by far was taking self-portraits. Lots of people showed up with massive DSLRs and tripods and even lighting rigs.
There are a couple of nice, grassy parks around Fort San Pedro, and lots of people were out playing sports, hanging out with friends, and generally enjoying themselves.
The fort has old canons arranged all around the stone walls.
This is just a random building that I spotted outside the fort. It didn’t surprise me to see “fuck you” written on the galvanized tin. This phrase seems to be all the rage amongst young people in the Philippines. I’m often surrounded by teenage boys in Internet cafes playing online games, and they all scream “Fuck you!” at each other as they play the game and attack each others’ characters. Unfortunately, young people have also started to make a game out of shouting “fuck you” at foreigners. I don’t think they realize quite how offensive it is.
If you know the password, the armored trucks will pop open and dump out a bunch of money?
A sign at Fort San Pedro said that the fort had been damaged heavily by the earthquake and then by typhoon Yolanda. Indeed, there were lots of sections where the walls had crumbled. Some sections were roped off and the stone had been sorted into groups as they began to rebuild the walls.
These students were practicing a dance routine in the park across the street from Fort San Pedro.
