Sule Pagoda – Beauty at the Heart of Yangon
The Sule Pagoda is over two and a half thousand years old, and it marks the center of Yangon. Right from when I arrived at the airport, its name came up because the final stop of the airport bus was Sule Plaza, and my hostel was located just a couple of blocks from there. It made for a very convenient landmark for getting oriented. I could simply enjoy the bus ride and look out the window at the streets and traffic and people of Yangon. There was no way I could miss Sule Pagoda when we arrived there, and then once I saw it, I knew my hostel was not far away.
So, on my first day, after I settled into my tiny single room, I set off on foot to the pagoda to get a closer look. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to go inside. I’d heard something about an entrance fee for foreigners, but I had no details beyond that. And this video is all about my visit to this beautiful spot in Yangon.
